Seriously can anyone tell me what is the difference between Ipod Shuffle and the latest Zen Stone? Might as well call it the Zen Shuffle.
Is this the best product that Creative can come up with to counter their competitors? Mr. Sim may like to re-look into his development team.
Maybe the Marketing thinks that being compared with the Ipod Shuffle is a good thing.
The Americans must be laughing at us for the blatant ripoff.
If we had to place ourselves internationally. This is honestly not the proudest product that should be show cased.
Honestly Creative has not had anything ground breaking for the past month. Are they looking real hard into it or are they happily living off the money they got from Apple.
This product doesn't really make us proud of the products that are being produced in Singapore. Makes us look like some cheap China company. I think the China produced MP3 players looks better then the Creative ones.
Come on Mr. Sim You can definitely do better.

Ya.... they really no creativity.
But then, the stone sure look nicer than shuffle. :D
Thanks for dropping in DK, sleeker maybe, but still design wise still lacks creativity
Spoke a a dude who used to be in the computer scene in Singapore back in the 90s. All he had to say about Mr Sim was that he likes to play harmonica and hang out with his chinese orchestra. We also talked about his obssesion with magic tricks.
Maybe if the repackage their mp3 players as integrated magic tricks kits with a manual on how to do magic with mp3 players, they might find a niche
The iPod has become a pop-icon and it is hard to re-introduce another "revolutionary" product without thinking that it's a rip-off. However, I think Creative should be "creative" by envisioning their mp3 players as another product category, eg. fashion accessory or toy, rather than a tech product. I believe by doing so, it will inspire better designs.
at least people like Sony try to make some difference..
Well like they say it, "An Apple a day keeps Sim Wong Hoo away."
Well like I saw somewhere, "An Apple a day keeps Sim Wong Hoo away."
how creative u want? triangle ah? wahsey. i think it's already a breakthru because their players are looking nicer.
Here is an idea to improve the Creative stone. Maybe it could combines with Tibetan designs of the "Heaven's bead".Different designs for different aspiration of the buyer. For peace, joy, good fortune etc.

sorry seh, it seemed that most of the europeans favour this stone.
"Seriously can anyone tell me what is the difference between Ipod Shuffle and the latest Zen Stone?"
Sure.
Differences (off the top of my head, not limited to the following):
- rounded edges
- not only 1 different color, but a few different colors
- no clip (personally, I prefer this)
- smooth finish (sleeker look)
- MSC compatible
To be fair, here are the similarities that I see:
- small rectangular shape
- very similar controls
The rectangular shape.. well, I guess they could make it.. circle? Oh hey hexagonal is not bad either.
Controls - I will have to admit that this is a bit too similar, but IMO it is an optimal minimalistic design that works, and in fact Creative has designed theirs slightly sleeker.
Creative has taken an already good product and made it look and function (at least slightly) better, and let's not forget cheaper. There's really not many ways to design a small audio player, so similarities are bound to show up.
Granted, Creative did not make anything revolutionary. However, making an existing design better is also a form of creativity.
Remember the Meizu M6 player? That is so obviously a "Chinese iPod rip-off", but people loved it and gave credit to the company. I won't be surprised if this becomes a similar case.
"- not only 1 different color, but a few different colors"
The iPod Shuffle 2G also comes in several colours.
I remember that Mr Sim said that players with no LCD screens (and FM tuners) made no sense (my paraphrase)...well...what do we have here...
the stone is not too bad really. for 99 bucks you get a 'shuffle' with an lcd screen and fm tuner. what are you trendy wankers complaining about?
