Singapore is a CITY.. NOT a COUNTRY.. it is the truth

Q&A with Shanmugam
‘But nobody questions whether there is a democracy in New York,’ Law Minister K. Shanmugam said on Wednesday, referring to the frequent questioning of Singapore’s democratic credentials given the 50-year dominance of the ruling People’s Action Party.
Drawing on arguments by American economist Bryan Caplan in a recent article, he said Singapore was viewed as a deviation from the democratic norm because it was seen primarily as a country.
‘This is where most people make a mistake…I have tried to explain that we are different. We are a city. We are not a country,’ he told 200 lawyers, many from America, at the New York State Bar Association International Section’s meeting here.

Not say I say what.. This sentence seems to have angered quite abit of Singaporeans.... Lets get this straight... no one said anything about Singapore being a country. We have always been a city.

We have always been an island city state. I can understand how we often we hear things like defending the country among others....it is not exactly correct. It should be defending the city.

We don't have a capital. (some may argue and say Jurong is the capital, but thats another story to be told next time.)

Some who know me, would know I work for the Gahment. Some who know me better would know I am the Gahment Rebel, a shame for them to hire me, a fatty disgrace.

But to be fair, please don't just complain and anyhow whine what the ministers say. Not what they say is always wrong. Mee siam mai hum is wrong.. Singapore is a city is right.
