MythBusters: The Green Hornet Special

So one of the biggest blockbuster this year is The Green Hornet starring the awesome Seth Rogen and the other chinese guy...that singer Jay Chou as Kato.

The Green Hornet is an American pulp hero and masked vigilante with his sidekick Kato who goes around busting crime in an insanely awesome car ,The Black Beauty. Think Batman and Robin with the Batmobile and you'll get it.

So it is obvious that this movie is not a love comedy or a Brokeback Mountain (though I do see a possibly porn spoof coming). It does contain many scenes of mind blowing action and sequences that would look awesome in 3D (I tell you what doesn't look awesome in 3D, Jay Chou).

BUT

How realistic are the action sequences? Is it possible in real life? Can the the car really blow itself out when its buried underground? Can Jay Chou really speak English?

Well then, let the MythBusters show you...

In The Mythbusters Green Hornet Special. The team will be teaming up with the insanely awesome Seth Rogen to to bust two myths concerning the Green Hornet’s car, Black Beauty among others.

  • If a car is completely buried with a bulldozer parked on top, it can set off onboard explosives to throw the bulldozer out of the way without injuring the passengers, as long as they shield themselves properly.
  • If a bullet-riddled car drives halfway into an elevator that begins to ascend, the car will be cut in half when the elevator reaches ceiling level, and the front end can be driven out.
Watch the team as they rig up explosives to the the Black Beauty replica and set up a elevator prop to bust the myths. You never know when such information would be useful to you, so you better watch it.

The MythBusters Green Hornet Special will be shown on the Discovery Channel on January 28th at 8pm. Check your local listings for more information.
