Home is...

a place I will stay and protect. That is what home means to me.

Singapore introduced Total Defence Day since 1984 to get Singaporeans to understand the importance of protecting the country we stay in. We are a small country, so small that if an alien invasion did happen it will probably pass us. But we are also strategically placed in terms of trading, so that means we cannot discount the fact that one day we may be invaded by other countries.

So if that day really comes. What will we do. Do we stay and fight to protect our country and our loved ones or do we run like cowards.

Lets put it this way, if one day, your house, your own HDB or wherever you stay and your family member gets attacked. Do you run? Or do you protect. Most likely you will stay and fight for your home. I for one would pull a Getsuga Tensho on the invaders.

On a larger picture, Singapore houses your home, so wouldn't it make sense to stay and protect when it gets invaded?

We don't want to have another WWII happening here do we?

Well things would be easier if we had super heroes to protect us, but thats not gonna happen now.

 Nope, not gonna happen

Well as much as I do admit, a fat guy like me won't be much use in war, but any person count when in war, I can feed water and food to troops, possibly entertain. Still doing my bit counts I guess.

But of course during peace time, I do my part to support whatever I can. Like supporting local music, movie etc etc.

Speaking of music, for Total Defence Day 2011, A new version of Home, written by Dick Lee and originally sung by Kit Chan, was remade and sung by 39 local singers.

Visit http://thisishome.sg/ to download the video and find out who the rest of the signers are. For every download of the video, it will be matched by a $1 donation to ComChest. Do your part to support local singers, yet do charity. Awesome deal much.
