Take for example, the recent IMF that ended recently. We had protesters staging a silent protest, So what did our government do in anticipation? We gave them a corner in Suntec City to do the protest.
A nice relaxing indoor corner, with aircon, toilet, nearby amenities like food court, hungry can buy tidbits to eat. Toilet, Carrefour, nearby got OSIM shop, stand until tired, can go massage. Transportation was near, free shuttle bus. The protesters were sheltered from rain or shine, Heck they even brought thier own masks to protect against flu or fever. (Though saying the mask is part of the protest is just an excuse).. Welfare for them.
Compare it to the recent Taiwan protest against thier minister Ah Bian, They had to stand under the hot sun, pelted by rain. no aircon, makes the middle earth journey by the hobbits look like a walk in the park.No welfare for them
And yet we complain??? come on.......Welfare for all
